We're seeking a skilled Electrical Inspector to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of electrical installations across commercial, industrial, and residential settings.
Required Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Oregon Electrical Inspectors certificate, A-level / EI.
- Oregon Inspectors Certification (OIC).
- Current technical/professional knowledge of complex principles, methods, standards and techniques associated with the scope of work of a recognized profession such as:
- Techniques, practices, and procedures for the construction, installation, repair and operation of electrical systems.
- Applicable federal, state, and local codes.
- Possession of valid driver's license by date of hire.
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
- Successful completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.
- Must obtain Residential Inspector Certification (CAS/CAX) within two (2) years of hire; the City will pay for the certification .
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous inspection experience is a plus but not necessary if A Level/Supervising Electrician certifications are held.
Available Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
- 5% for a Master's Degree
- 5% for Professional Engineer Registration
- 5% for any of the following additional certificates:
- CAP
- CAS
- MIA
- PEA
- SIA

These duties are a representative example; position assignments may vary depending on the business needs of the department and organization. This position:
- Schedules and conducts inspections of industrial, residential and commercial facilities to ensure compliance with local and state building codes.
- Reviews plans and ensures construction meets specifications; reviews equipment and facilities as required; gives final approval to projects.
- Serves as the contact for inquiries related to electrical inspection and prepares and maintains records and reports.
- Prepares inspection reports and maintains records of work performed.
- Provides technical advice and information to architects, engineers, contractors, craftsmen, property owners, maintenance personnel and citizens regarding state and local electrical building code requirements and installation procedures.
- May assist Department management providing court testimony related to electrical code violations.
- Scope of assigned area will depend on departmental and/or citywide operational structure and is at the discretion of the Director.
- Upholds the values of the organization and has strong customer service orientation.
- Must have the ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace.
- Must be honest and truthful in all tasks and responsibilities.
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
