ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Estimating Intern is responsible for supporting one or multiple Estimators in our Commercial division. This position is based at our headquarters in Bloomington, MN and guarantees 20 hours per week with the possibility of additional hours based on workload.
- Assist the Estimating team in accurately performing take-offs.
- Interface with the Sales and Preconstruction team, as well as Project Managers, Designers, and General Foreman to resolve issues throughout the estimating process.
- Assist in accurately estimating labor, materials and administrative costs for assigned projects.
- Interpret the design drawings submitted by engineers.
- Ensure outputs meet the required standards and agreed upon deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pursuing degree in electrical construction, construction management, electrical engineering or similar discipline preferred.
- Basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience with Enterprise estimating program preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet daily deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Positive attitude with desire to learn new things.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.
- Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.
- This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
- This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
