Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects. Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Develop and apply advanced engineering solutions to complex problems. Review lower level engineer work or assignments. Responsible for one or more of the following: lead production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activity, and be responsible for technical aspects of projects as assigned. Establish work plan to be applied to a given project. Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on complex projects. Responsible for defining project schedules for single discipline or may have responsibility for multiple disciplines. Responsible for determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects. Focus on client's current needs and situations. Typically provide support to business development or pursuit activities. Serve as a technical specialist and have knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a particular practice area. Typically support multiple projects on very complex technical challenges. Actively advance knowledge management of the enterprise and provide mentoring. Proactively provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black and Veatch policies. Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards. Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines. No Hire/fire authority. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field, plus at least ten years of related work experience. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field, plus at least nine years of related work experience. Professional licensure as an engineer is required; international licensure is permitted. Related experience must include: high-voltage substation design (minimum of 34.5kV); reviewing project schedules and budgets; performing quality analysis and quality control responsibilities; and designing and interpreting physical high-voltage substation drawings (plan & section views, conduit plans, grounding plans, material lists and cable charts). Must have experience working with high-voltage substation indoor and outdoor design. Must have experience designing high-voltage substation control houses. Must have experience performing Electrical Engineering calculations including AC & DC load calculations and conductor sizing. Must have experience working with civil and construction engineers, construction support, internal and external client co-ordination, and procurement of major electrical equipment. Must have experience with cost estimation and analyzed improvements in QA/QC of the design package. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Regional travel required up to 5% of the time. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
