GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. This position is full-time and will support the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM.

Overview:
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for nuclear facility Electrical Engineering matters, including all aspects of electrical safety, power quality, power monitoring, and critical power reliability/redundancy issues.
  • Perform engineering studies including short circuit, device coordination, equipment sizing, exterior lighting, fault current, and arc flash for both medium and low voltage equipment.
  • Work alongside junior engineers (e.g., fire protection, structural, mechanical, and electrical) and other senior engineers in team settings to complete collaborative full-system design solutions through mentoring, calculations, and leadership.

Clearance & Citizenship Requirement:
  • To be considered, you must have an active or very recently active DOE “Q” Clearance or DoD “Top Secret” Clearance.
  • Due to the federal nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.

About the Site:

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).

COMPENSATION: GEM does not publish salary ranges on external job boards; all ranges listed are estimates made by vendors and not actual salary ranges. GEM’s offered compensation is dependent on candidates’ education, qualifications, and relevant years of experience.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expert knowledge of new and existing non-reactor facility Electrical Engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods, and application of computer-aided engineering tools to solve operations-based engineering problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering work, planning, construction, and control methods.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry, regulatory, or national codes and standards including IBC, NEC, IEEE, and NFPA 70E.
  • Advanced knowledge of Engineering principles and procedures, design guides, appropriate standards, and administrative practices.
  • Advance knowledge of project and process engineering practices.
