GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our team. This position is full-time and will serve the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN.

Overview:
- Services are required for an Electrical Designer to work in the Y-12 Division Managed Design Engineering Electrical/I&C Design group, supporting new and modified plant electrical systems at 13.8 kV down to low voltage systems, as well as controls and instrumentation designs.
- Preparation of drawings in MicroStation, preparing data sheets, specifications, reports, reviews, and estimates (both material and engineering labor hour) working as an integral part of a multi-discipline project team.
- Will often work in concert with an electrical engineer and other CAD drafters from the same work group.
- Typical drawings may include one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, feeder/circuit sizing, and conduit/cable schedules, fire alarm and communication drawings.
- Perform field walkdowns in radiological contaminated areas.
Clearance & Citizenship Requirement:
- To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
- Thorough understanding of and demonstrated previous application of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other similar national consensus standards is desired.

The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium. Y-12 supports efforts to reduce nuclear proliferation risk and performs work for other government agencies (energy.gov).

Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in technical field and 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Must be able to support construction and operational activities related to design outputs.
