Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Designer with experience in the design of electrical systems using CAD software for industrial and utility facilities to be based in our Baton Rouge, LA office. This position has the responsibility and authority to work independently or assist an engineer in the design, drafting and development of documents and related components for Orbital's customers in the refining, petrochemical, steel mills, power plant and/or similar industries.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinates and develops drawings and associated documents for projects.
- Develops and compiles engineering design packages.
- Develops detailed engineering schedules and man-hour budgets for projects.
- Take responsibility for quality of work.
- Perform and/or participate in site visits and field walks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5-10 years plus of experience in industrial and/or utility power systems engineering.
- Demonstrated engineering and design competency, in a consulting environment with industrial engineering power projects
- High School Diploma is required.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/schematics.
- Must be an organized person who can keep data organized from start to finish on a project.
- Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Reasoning skills and ability to solve practical problems.
- Proficiency in common Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of ACAD Computer Aided Design, including 3D modeling.
- Working knowledge of Knowledge of NFPA, IEEE and National Electric Safety Code.
- Ability to climb stairs, and sit, stand and walk for extended period of time.
- Authorized to work in USA.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience and ability to function as Instrumentation designer also would be a plus.
- Degree from a technical trade school.
- Proficient in ACAD and 3D modeling.
