We are currently looking for an Electromechanical Designer to join our team! As an Electromechanical Designer you will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, and release of electrical and mechanical designs and drawings. By following Valco's standard engineering practices, you will achieve integrity of designs and drawings. You will collaborate and interact with Engineers, vendors, customers, and other functional groups as required.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to spearhead key functions and expand your knowledge and skills to progress your career, responsibilities shall include the following:
- Creating cost-effective designs to meet electrical and mechanical functional requirements
- Creating accurate drawings and other documentation to communicate designs within Valco and to vendors and customers
- Collaborating with both Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to create and implement electrical and mechanical designs
- Preparing and applying basic mechanical and electrical calculations to aid good design
- Consulting with Valco Operations personnel and vendors to assure designs meet manufacturability standards
- Following Valco Engineering Guidelines for design, drawing, and document control
- Developing and maintaining a high level of technical expertise and knowledge of assigned products and supporting those products throughout the organization
- Fabricating and assembling mechanical, electrical, and electronic prototypes, components and systems
- Designing, constructing, and documenting product tests to replicate real world scenarios with repeatable results
- Maintaining, modifying, repairing, and testing of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and equipment
- Maintaining a high level of expertise with design software
- Managing work schedule and planning to meet deadlines and goals
- Working independently and moving ahead on several projects in the same day based on priority
Fundamental Qualifications:
- Two-year technical degree in Design or Drafting or equivalent experience and knowledge
- Possess three years of experience demonstrating good mechanical and electrical design skill and proven work ethic
- Possess skill with SolidWorks
- Knowing how to safely use available equipment to aid in the construction of prototypes and tests
- Work in a team environment taking multiple internal customers' input on designs
- Possess understanding of electrical design codes, standards, and symbols
- Possess ability to read an electrical schematic and create a wiring diagram from it
- Possess demonstrated practical mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Possess computer proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schematic, blueprint or sketch form
Preferred Qualifications:
- Displaying good trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
- Possess design familiarity with sheet-metal and plastic injection molding
- Possess familiarity with design and tolerance stack-up principles
- Possess understanding of drafting standards ASTM Y14.5
