Job Description
This role can be based out of the Teledyne FLIR facility in Wilsonville, OR or Orlando, FL.
Job Summary:
As a key member of the product development team, you will perform complex digital circuit design for the next generation of thermal imaging products. Research component data sheets, create block diagrams, and present concepts to the engineering team for review. Implement designs using schematic capture tools and identify critical components and signals for PCB Layout Engineers. Also, lead the integration and debug of new designs and participate with the transfer of completed products to production.
Job Duties:
- Derive requirements for electronics design tasks from system specifications and by working with both internal and external customers.
- Perform system design trades relating to hardware and software.
- Design digital electronics including, but not limited to, digital video systems, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), DAC/ADC circuitry and microprocessors for system control/communications.
- Work with development teams including System, Software, Mechanical and PC layout engineers to refine requirements and interfaces.
- Work with Project/Program managers to define schedules and with Manufacturing to define test and assembly processes.
- Design verification including the creation of test plans, generation of test stimulus, running tests, debugging hardware and reporting results for the integration and production phase of products.
- Prepare and present design reviews to teams and other groups of customers.
- Generate schematics, layouts, BOMs and design rules to flow down board design requirements to PC board designer and work with board designer to develop high quality circuit card assemblies to be used inside EO/IR systems
- Work with vendors and purchasing to specify components.
- Responsible for releasing and maintaining complete design documentation according to procedures and supporting manufacturing and customers throughout the life of the product.
- Work closely with other designers as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
- Minimum of a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience in product design, DFM, and troubleshooting complex circuit boards and electrical systems.
- Schematic capture and circuit simulation.
- High layer count, complex printed circuit board design.
- Serial communications standards.
- High-speed circuit design with differential signals and controlled impedance.
- Circuit board troubleshooting in a lab environment.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Ability to work within a diverse group across multiple design facilities.
- Ability to effectively multi-task between multiple projects.
- PC skills including Windows, Linux, MS Office.
- Candidates must be highly motivated and possess a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of switch-mode power supplies and PWM for motor drive.
- Knowledge of USB, CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, and various digital video standards
- High-speed synchronous memory.
- Circuit board layout (Mentor Graphics tools preferred).
- FPGA design.
- Design verification tools (Mentor Graphics HyperLynx DRC, SI, and PI preferred).
