Electrical Design Engineer

Audio Authority is a Lexington, KY based electronic design and manufacturing firm specializing in the creation of innovative electronic devices. As a result of continued growth, we are currently in search of an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to complement our current team. 

Primary Duties: 

• Product schematic design and PCB layout. 

• Integrate with the engineering team to support ongoing work. 

• Design, simulate, test, and document new analog and digital product designs. 

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and improve existing designs. 

• Develop and implement manufacturing procedures for assigned projects. 

• Specify electronic components and identify suitable alternative components. 

• Specify, debug, and troubleshoot embedded firmware. 

• Estimate development costs and timelines. 

• Support market introduction of new products including tech. support and customer interactions. 

Desired Qualifications 

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. • Five years of proven hands-on practical experience in circuit design. 

• Proven experience with embedded hardware design i.e., microcontrollers, DSPs, Sensors, GPIO, Ethernet/serial transceivers, and wireless technologies. 

• Familiarity with PCB layout best practices, Gerber files, IPC standards, PCB fabrication, and final assembly. 

• Current proficiency in Altium Designer (preferred) or another PCB layout package. • Current proficiency with lab instruments, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. 

• Experience in writing specifications, generating design concepts, prototyping, troubleshooting, documentation, and electrical manufacturing processes. 

• Effective communicator in both spoken and written technical subject matter. 

Strongly Preferred Qualifications 

• Prior design experience with IOT devices and systems. 

• Experience debugging, developing, and editing firmware and software. 

• Experience with FCC/UL certification processes 

• Familiarity with FPGA devices.
