Join our team as an eLearning Support Specialist! The eLearning Support Specialist is an entry-level position within the Center for Online Learning (COL) that will support faculty and students using technology to enhance learning at the University of Dayton. This is a full time benefit eligible position that offers health, dental and vision insurance, retirement, disability, tuition assistance for you and your dependents, vacation/sick accrual and holiday pay.
The primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, responding to support requests via email and phone, and assisting by meeting with faculty. The person in this position will also share information about innovative and best practices surrounding the use of UD's learning management system (Canvas) and other educational technologies. A successful eLearning Support Specialist will build relationships with customers by providing excellent customer service, coaching, and training in the technical and pedagogical use of technology tools that support teaching and learning.
The eLearning Support Specialist serves as an active team member on creative projects focused on teaching and learning and is expected to collaborate with others in COL and other departments at the university. This position's duties also include administrative course management, the creation and maintenance of documentation, as well as clarifying and detailing customer complaints and requests to be evaluated by the Center for Online Learning's development team.
Minimum Qualifications:1. Bachelor's degree in related field, OR an Associate's degree and 2 years of experience providing training and help desk support
2. Basic computer hardware, software, knowledge/troubleshooting skills
3. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
4. Excellent written communication skills
5. Excellent oral communication skills
6. Excellent listening skills
7. Experience providing high-quality customer service
8. Ability to evaluate and solve problems

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
1. Familiarity with audio/video multimedia technology
2. Familiarity with streaming media technologies
3. Experience creating documentation
4. Experience with web authoring and the creation of visual graphics
5. Experience developing and facilitating group training sessions
6. Experience with support and/or administration of an academic course management system such as Sakai, Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, or Desire2Learn
7. Experience with support and/or administration of synchronous communication tools such as WebEx, Adobe Connect, or Zoom
8. Experience in supporting the delivery of online learning courses or training programs (academic or business-related)
