El Paso Guest Services Supervisor
- Position Title: El PasoGuest Services Supervisor

- Compensation: $20 per hour (day shift) and $22 per hour (night shift)

- Primary Location: El Paso, TX
- Schedule: Three (3) – Four (4) Twelve-hour (12) shifts per week, day and night shifts available: (*Candidate must be flexible. Scheduling needs and demands are fluid based on the needs of our guests and the organization.)

Organizational Context - Founded in 1997, Border Servant Corps is a community-based organization that provides humanitarian aid, educational opportunities, and community engagement in the U.S./México border region. BSC offers temporary hospitality, meeting a comprehensive set of basic needs, for asylum-seekers released from DHS custody on their way to their U.S.-based sponsor. We also provide opportunities for community members and visitors to learn about and serve in our borderlands community. The people who join our team actively respect the people we serve and the community we serve alongside, providing a welcome with dignity for all.

About the Role
Guest Services Supervisors are fully responsible for the operation and supervision of BSC’s Hospitality Center (temporary shelter) Guest Services Team during her/his shift and collaborate with other Supervisors on the same – and different – shifts. The role is predominantly interpersonal with guests and team members within the scope of daily operations.
Responsibilities
Operations & Supervision: Coordinates and actively works with a team of Guest Services Assistants in carrying out operations at the Hospitality Center (temporary shelter). Relevant operations include, but may not be limited to:

- Guest Relations
- Welcome guests.
- Distribute materials (clothing, travel food/supplies).
- Escort guests to different areas of campus (sleeping, dining, medical, etc.).
- Serve meals (prepare, distribute, clean up).
- Prepare guests for departure (excluding travel arrangements).
- Respond to the needs of guests during their stay .
- Site Maintenance
- Guest laundry.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling.
- Receive, sort and stock inventory.
- Maintain accurate inventory logs.
- Daytime housekeeping; nighttime deep-clean where guests are not sleeping.
- Welcoming & Teamwork
- Collaborate with all members of the Hospitality Center – including the community volunteers – to ensure success of the overall operation.
- Welcome groups visiting the site.

Candidate Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years of full-time work experience.
- Conversationally fluent in Spanish and English, required.
- Comfort speaking to and directing small crowds.
- Comfort navigating in-depth conversations via google translate with guests from all over the world.
- Highly proficient in de-escalating tense interpersonal interactions.
- Ability to take direction.
- Proficient computer skills (familiarity with Google-based systems preferred).
- Demonstrated skill at prompt and professional verbal and written communication.
- Skilled at working in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
- Flexible; ability to adjust to changing circumstances.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behavior attitudes.
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work comfortably for a faith-based employer, as Border Servant Corps is a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
