JOB TITLE

• Medical Interpretation Specialist
• JOB DESCRIPTION
• Perform a variety of interpretation services of on-site, over the phone, video remote to assist physicians and non-English speaking patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSInterpretation

• Participate as a neutral party in the role as conduit of information that must flow between providers, patient and their family.
• Ensure that information pertaining to the patient’s medical care is accurately interpreted and communicated. Ability to convey the exact message as opposed to summarizing the information in a way that is subjective.
• Demonstrates interpreter competencies by certificaiton and or experience. Able to pass company language competency exam.
• Select appropriate mode of interpretation for each encounter.

Translation

• Provide written translation of short and or emergent documents. May need to translate longer documents, depending on his/her assignment.

Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate daily records on all requests for service as well as the provision of services. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within program database.
• Accurately and thoroughly document nature of interpretation in the application system.

Customer Service

• Promote customer satisfaction related to clients and JRivera Associates; notify Supervisor of any issues that may be problematic.
• Provide feedback to manager regarding any issues and concerns, and will take responsibility in problem solving
• Continually seeks opportunities to improve quality of service.
• Exhibits professional behavior at all times.

Policies and Procedures Compliance

• Ensure that all policies and procedures related to process, service, and employee work rules are followed.
• Effectively exercise confidentiality and sensitivity in regard to all employee and patient information at all times. It is crucial for all employees to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters related to patient care and visitor issues for all non-English speaking patients, families, staff and subcontracted staff.

Communication

• Communicate clearly with management and interpreter team in order to best coordinate care for patients.
• Effectively utilize all information systems to convey information.

Additional Job Requirements

• Participates as assigned in data collection, research and performance improvement related services monthly.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Fast-paced clinical environment with frequently changing priorities.
• Moderate physical demands – required to be able to lift 20 lbs., ability to be on feet or sitting at desk for extensive periods of time, onsite interpretation may require extensive walking, climbing stairs, etc.
• Emotionally challenging as some interactions may be highly stressful requiring maturity, composure and sound judgment. Position requires the ability to act calmly and professionally in a potentially demanding and high-stress environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High-School Diploma or equivalent
• Must hold a certificate as a Medical Assistant
• Experience:
• Must have at least 1 year experience in a medical office setting as a medical assistant.
• Interpretation Certification-Nationally/State Recognized Certification

Certification

• Must have a Medical Assistant certificate.

• Must know Medical terminology
• Current Driver’s License with driving record and vehicle
• You must have current vehicle insurance.
• Must have ability to utilize the phones. video remote wifi technology
• Flexibility and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

• Must be flexible to meet scheduling needs and handle unpredictable changes.
• Detail oriented and accurate.
• You must pass our Language Proficiency Test both written and oral.
• You must be fluent and be able to read and write in languages you have indicated you speak.
• You must have IOS Compatible device

Job Type: Part-time
