JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs routine EKG examinations, Holter monitor application and removal and other specialized procedures for patients as directed and according to established standards and practices.
MACHINES OR EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Electrocardiograph, Holter monitor and other clinical equipment/attachments; computer related equipment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of an EKG Technician training program or documented on the job training. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the neonate, infant, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years as an EKG Technician preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Exhibits knowledge of technical skills required to implement patient care and EKG services as demonstrated through practices, placement of EKG electrodes, Holter monitor application and removal, and recognizing abnormal and technically inadequate results.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively/professionally with hospital staff, patients, family, visitors, and physicians under routine and stressful situations.
- Available to work flexible shifts required.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Prolonged standing, walking, bending; ability to lift/turn/ position/transport patients; ability to lift and transport equipment; wrist and digital dexterity; exposure to infectious agents; visual acuity to perform tests on patients and receive/interpret instructions. Subject to electrical and related hazards; heavy work - exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
