The EHS Specialist will include connecting with leaders throughout the organization to implement improvements and reinforce our culture of safety, own both safety and environmental programs throughout the company, and make an impact every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the corporate safety and environmental policies, oversee the periodic updating of these policies as the need arises, draft new policies as they are issued, and communicate best practices within the company.
- Organize and conduct health and safety training educational sessions that introduce workers to resources and rights they can use.
- Lead safety and environmental training modules, hands on demonstrations, verification, and testing of safe and proper use of equipment and monitoring the effectiveness of the training, and safety committee meetings.
- Safety Certification Trainer: manage certifications for all employees (PITs, aerial lifts, LOTO, Chemical handing, confined space, etc.)
- Create / Update / Manage Safety SOPs.
- Manage keep stock inventory for safety supplies.
- JHAs, daily inspections / assessments.
- Assist / lead incident investigations.
- Serve as a focal point for information and regulatory activities of company-controlled operations.
- Travel to courses, both in and out of state.
- Achieve and maintain appropriate professional credentials and certifications.
- Assist in managing environmental permits and program requirements specific to the site.
- Assist in the site's ISO-14001 program.
- B.S. in Occupational Health & Safety or related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Illinois agencies such as Illinois OSHA, IEPA, Cook County.
- Microsoft Office, SAP.
- OSHA 30.
- Professional certification (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.) preferred.
- Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
