How will you make an impact?

The EHS Specialist is an advisor on EHS aspects to the site leadership team and functional managers.   This role will work with the EHS Manager to continue to drive a Safety-First culture.

What will you do?

  • Work closely with employees in solving safety concerns raised by employees.
  • Participate in incident investigations, ensure root cause and countermeasures are identified to prevent recurrence of similar incidents. Review and analyze accident and spill data to identify trends or areas requiring additional focus.
  • Update EHS documents (emergency action plan, facility safety plan, etc.) as needed, to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and corporate standards. This includes training, conducting drills, and coordination with the local authorities.
  • Be a safety advocate. Proactively look for opportunities to improve safety programs and educate and inspire employees to do the same. Drive and implement changes as needed.
  • Deliver safety training as required.
  • Perform periodic audits to identify potential EHS hazards, program deficiencies, and liabilities and coordinate closer of gaps identified.
  • Lead and participate in job safety and ergonomics analysis, make recommendations and work with appropriate department to implement changes.
  • Maintain EHS data base and records, including OSHA 300 log and generate reports as needed.
  • Liaise with Travelers on Workers compensation cases and work with medical providers on handling injury / illness cases.
  • Work with project team and ensure established safety standards are met while implementing new projects.

How will you get here?

Education

High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of relevant experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related scientific subject area such as Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering

Experience

  • 3+ years in a safety or environmental health and safety (EHS) role
  • Experience in implementing local, state and federal environmental, health and safety rules and regulations

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Solid background in Environmental (government reporting) and Safety Well versed in health and safety legislation
  • Proven ability to coach and develop staff as well as the technical ability to coordinate departmental business activities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, leadership, motivation and organization skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-pace environment
  • High integrity for dealing with confidential information
  • Demonstrated professionalism
