The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator role is essentially one of leadership. The person filling this role will accept the personal responsibility to uphold the plant's effort to create and maintain an injury free environment that trains, encourages and demands that each employee at all levels of the organization becomes increasingly involved in Hazard recognition and work abnormality skill building. The over-arching principle that will be used to lead our plant to Zero injuries and employee engagement.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The EHS Coordinator role is an extension of leadership. The person filling this role will accept the personal responsibility to uphold the plant's effort to create and maintain an injury free environment that trains, encourages that each employee at all levels of the organization becomes increasingly involved in our pursuit of improved safety and Environmental stewardship.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the implementation of EHS programs and procedures.
- Applies prescribed hazard analysis methodologies to know at-risk conditions and implement mitigation efforts.
- Maintains (reviews) existing Safety/Environmental programs, systems & processes and delivers routine plant floor training as required by these programs, systems, and processes.
- Conducts root cause analysis for injuries, or accidents.
- Understands and ensures compliance with our Lock/Tag/Try system. Training and regular auditing of the process.
- Manages all plant waste-coordinates the recycling of material, manages universal waste.
- Maintain the environmental compliance calendar and adhere to all reporting deadlines.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining site emergency response process to include procedures, equipment, and people.
- Assist in meeting all corporate deadlines and program implementation requirements.
- Responsible for managing safety & environmental inspections.
- Function as a guide and safety trainer for new hires and contractors.
- Update and maintain SIF and SDS programs.
- Participates and leads in safety and housekeeping programs.
- Investigates and follows all environmental compliance polices and reporting.
- Leads and participates in focus improvement and case study project teams.
- Actively participates in EHS and T&D pillar activities, meetings, and training.
- Serves as a backup for EHS Pillar leader for team activities.
- Actively participates in plant TPM initiatives.
- All other duties as assigned or needed.
- Willingness to train others in specific safety-related tasks.
- Understanding of basic mechanical concepts.
- Ability to deliver oral and written communication: Daily huddles, Employee Meetings, etc.
- Restock Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stations and maintain accurate min/max inventory levels on PPE stock.
- Regular Attendance on site and the ability to rotate varying shifts.
- All other duties as assigned or needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have extensive knowledge of the OSHA and regulatory compliance field.
- Three or more years of manufacturing experience in an EHS role desired but not required.
- Any of the following certifications (Is a plus): OSHA 510, OSHA 500, OSHA 30-Hour
- Previous experience in Public Safety, Fire Rescue encouraged but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- General knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Able to think under pressure, make quick decisions, and function as a decision maker in the absence of the E&S Leader
- Intermediate computer literacy - email, spreadsheets, Word, Aspen-Tech, SAP, Talent Center, and Cority database management.
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Work well in a team environment
- Effective communication, display organizational skills
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The employee should possess the ability to:
- Ability to lift to 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment
- Walk/stand on concrete floors continuously for up to 12 hours.
- Routinely ascend and descend stairs and ladders as work area requires.
- Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - steel toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask), gloves, bump cap/hard hat as necessary for task
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- SAP experience preferred, for work notifications, quality and production tracking, etc.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Complete all annual safety and role specific training, as required by the nature of this position.
- Must pass all required assessments.
