Opportunity

Abt Global seeks an experienced Project Manager to support research and technical assistance contracts with the U.S. Department of Education and other human services agencies. The Project Manager is responsible for managing the operational, contractual, and financial aspects of ongoing projects in close collaboration with the project director. The Project Manager also regularly assesses project risks and develops strategies to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and regularly monitor project scope, schedule, and quality, from project start up to close out.
  • Prepare for and facilitate monthly Project Health Reviews with Client Account Leadership.
  • Coordinate regular client and internal team meetings and communication.
  • Analyze project financial performance with support from Project Financial Analyst, including planning and management of projects to efficiently utilize contract value, generate revenue, and developing achievable project financial forecasts.
  • Actively support Abt’s business development efforts, including completion of required trainings and proposal management support to the Education portfolio and other portfolios as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director to implement mitigation strategies to maintain financial health.
  • Collaborate with finance team to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Support development and review of client and internal reports and deliverables for accuracy and approval.
  • Participate in the procurement processes for subcontractors, consultants, or other vendors and track progress and liaise with Abt’s contracts group.
  • Stakeholder engagement and management of subcontractors, consultants, or other vendors, including project-related communications, contract and invoice management.
  • Identify staffing and hiring needs and liaise with the resource management team to staff projects according to the project staffing plan.
  • Identify risks, maintain a risk registry, and escalate items as needed.
  • Manage internal knowledge management requirements and processes.

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s Degree + Five years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Three years of relevant experience, or PhD
  • Demonstrated experience and success as a Project Manager.
  • Demonstrated experience in project financial and contract management.
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal management and business development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, communication, and customer relationships skills.
  • Understanding of project risk and importance of timely monitoring and escalation.
  • PMP a plus, not required.
  • Ability to work successfully in matrixed structure and use influence and consensus building to achieve results.
  • Experience developing progress reports, briefings, and decks for presentation to clients or corporate leaders.
  • Technical knowledge of federal education policies and programs, and or experience working on contracts with the U.S. Department of Education a plus.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $69,000 to $110,000 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
