JOB SUMMARY
The Education Program Coordinator works in conjunction with the director of education to manage the day-to-day operations of the Education Transition Program. This position provides supervisory guidance and direction to the Education Transition Program staff. The position is responsible for supporting quality outcomes and indicators and establishes community relationships and partnerships that are pertinent to the Education Transition Program. This includes Developmental Disabilities personnel, providers, parents, families, and parent/family groups.
QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)
Education and/or years' experience required:
- Master's degree in special education
- Licensed and qualified as a Special Education Teacher
- 5 years' experience in special education or intellectual disabilities
- Demonstrated experience in effective skills in organization, supervision, leadership, and communication in an educational administrative role.
Preferred/Required Skills and Abilities:
- 3 - 5 years of leadership experience
- 3 - 5 years teaching experience as a special education teacher
- Knowledge of interventions and treatment in school-based therapy supporting student access to curriculum, therapeutic programming, and support for individuals with complex medical needs
Supervision of others/decision making aptitude (if applicable): This position is responsible for supervision of special education teachers, general education teachers, and education DSP's.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITES
- Day to day supervision of the Education Transition Program staff including accurately reporting time care and completing performance management reviews in a timely manner.
- Development, implementation, and monitoring of curriculum utilizing evidence-based practices and interventions for individuals with varying disabilities.
- Mentors' teachers and support staff to meet the needs of the students with the most appropriate curricula and selects educational materials and orders supplies.
- Ensures teachers are adhering to the Special Education law.
- Understand and works to meet and exceed the needs of the students while committing to quality programming.
- Input and support in development and monitoring of the annual Education Program budget.
- Collaborate with Education Director to complete and report Educational Program Quality Assurance tracking.
- Ensure Education Transition Program meets DPI requirements and NCA accreditation.
- Collaborate with Therapy Services to ensure student programming is completed.
- Integrates system goals and objectives within education and Center wide objectives.
- Supports the Education Director with enrollment, space, and staff needed for educational services and performance management.
- Manage a special education caseload as determined by need.
- Performs Anne Carlsen Center duties as requested by the designated supervisor.
- Upholds Anne Carlsen Center's ethical standards and demonstrate the behavioral and service expectations as defined in our policies and procedures.
- Successfully completes required training and educational requirements per State, Federal, local health codes and Anne Carlsen Center policies and procedures.
