About the Position: The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) is seeking an Education Program Administrator for the Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE). The Education Program Administrator is responsible for providing leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of the state's curriculum and development services in Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Computer Science, and the Arts.
What you'll need to be Successful: Strong multi-tasking abilities, with demonstrated experience in project management and the coordination of efforts, resources and timelines of multiple staff or entities in completing a project on schedule and to standard. Strong command and proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.Clear understanding of MS College and Career Readiness Standards.• Knowledge and experience in organizing and delivering professional development.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a Master's Degree and 7+ years of experience.Eight (8) years in the special experience defined, four (4) years of which must have included line or functional administrative or advanced technical supervision.SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:• Building principal or comparable district level administrative leadership experience strongly preferred.• Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience.• Strong background facilitating communication and coordination among instructional staff for the purpose of meeting curriculum demands and guidelines and ensuring state mandates are achieved.• Proven experience and success in implementing instructional programs at the secondary level.Experience supervising certified and classified personnel as assigned for the purpose of carrying out objectives within areas of responsibility.SPECIAL EXPERIENCE:• Employment must have been in an administrative, professional capacity in an area of work related to the functional responsibility of the unit in which the position exists.• In those agencies where registered specialists provide the primary source of functional and technical knowledge for planning and accomplishing the mission of the agency, the incumbent must be registered and experienced in that profession.• Work experience must have included supervising and coordinating a variety of functions.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Many state agencies provide opportunity for employees to participate in pre-tax spending accounts. These accounts allow employees to withhold childcare expenses and unreimbursed medical expenses prior to application of state and federal taxes.
Paid Personal Leave and Sick LeaveFull-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.
Military Leave
In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.

Employees receive up to 10 paid holidays to enjoy many of our nation's celebrations with family and friends.
Retirement Programs
The State of Mississippi provides all its employees a Defined Benefit/Defined Contribution Retirement Program. Employees become vested in the State's retirement system after 8 years of employment. Tuition Reimbursement

Career Development and Training
The Mississippi State Personnel Board offers several management and administrative certification programs, as well as professional development courses to enhance employee value to the agency. Promotional Opportunities
Employees who have completed 6 or more months of service are eligible for promotional opportunities within state government employment. Minimum qualifications must be met.
