Children's educational television programs constitute a major portion of the daytime and weekend morning schedules.MPB provides a valuable resource to Mississippians in disseminating information as part of the state's emergency preparedness and response system. Every weekday, MPB News produces 11 newscasts dedicated to Mississippi stories.In 2015, MPB launched the latest iteration of the MPB Public Media App. With live stream, on-demand episodes of both radio and television favorites and the latest from MPB news, the MPB App provides listeners and viewers with a way to stay connected, no matter where in the world they may be.MPB reaches over 50,000 people a day through various social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. About the Position: MPB is looking for a person to act as the Specialist for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) in its Education Division. This role will be the MPB liaison with the MDE science and technology specialists to identify, develop, and promote MPB/PBS programming that expands access and provides supplemental support for instruction of science and technology. The STEAM specialist will also collaborate with the MDE Fine and Performing Arts specialists to infuse the arts into the science programming.The STEAM specialist will plan and develop innovative STEAM programming/enhancement aligned to the MDE Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards to support teachers with resources to engage and inspire students through integrated approaches. An understanding of strategies for developing high quality programming aligned to MDE's MCCRS through a broad range of multimedia methods will be mandatory. This specialist will collaborate with the Early Childhood specialist to follow Developmentally Appropriate Practices for foundational STEAM concepts. Programming will expand through facilitation of education and youth development curriculum specifically related to upper elementary, middle school and high school that includes but is not limited to college preparation, financial literacy, science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM), career exploration and health and wellness.M-F Equal Opportunity Employer

Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience. Jobs in this family develop Educational programs, including ETV. Agency preferred qualifications:A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEAM) instructional area preferred; (AND) a minimum of three (3) years of experience related to the described duties. Must be licensed and/or certified by an accredited licensing agency such as the Mississippi Department of Education in a STEAM area.Successful experience teaching science in elementary, middle level, or high school coursework is essential.
