Guardians of Honor is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (www.gohnow.com). GOH is seeking an exceptional STEM engagement professional.
The Education Coordinator I manages and coordinates a myriad of project-specific activities. Uses constituent feedback and knowledge of STEM Engagement best practices to contribute to the ongoing implementation of NASA projects and activities. Effectively communicate and collaborate with both internal and external NASA stakeholders. Evaluates the effectiveness of equipment, supplies, and materials used in the implementation and devises strategies to incorporate state-of-the-art resources to optimize activity design, delivery, and effectiveness. Creates, tracks, and maintains metrics about attendance, reach, and effectiveness of programs and activities.

Background:
NQuest is an innovative and immersive half-day STEM program developed through a partnership between NASA Ames Research Center, the esteemed Chabot Space and Science Center and NASA Office of STEM Engagement. The program aims to ignite the passion for scientific exploration and advance STEM education among 6th-8th grade students, educators, and the wider community through an inquiry-based learning approach. NQuest is a reach for both local and national levels, aiming to make a significant impact within the local community while extending its reach to a broader audience across the nation. Operating year-round, NQuest offers an extended learning opportunity for students, ensuring continuous engagement and enrichment. The program operates on a first-come, first-served model, with priority given to underrepresented students and schools during the core academic year. This prioritization reflects the program's commitment to promoting equity and increasing access to STEM education for those who traditionally face barriers. Under the NSTEM contract, the team will conduct and support the following, but not limited to:
- Administer a semester and year-round internship and fellowship program to engage national and international students, educators, and faculty, with a special emphasis on outreach to those from underrepresented and underserved groups, in authentic NASA learning opportunities.
- Design and administer authentic learning experiences for students, educators, and faculty to gain real-world NASA STEM experience, professional development, and career enhancement.
- Provide and coordinate resources, expertise, and tools necessary to implement NASA K-12 and collegiate level competitions and challenges aligned with NASA technical disciplines.
- Design, implement, or support a variety of K-12 and college STEM experiences encompassing formal and informal learning environments, after-school and summer programs, youth serving organizations, science centers, and museums to provide NASA unique STEM learning opportunities for students.
- Design, implement, or support strategies, methodologies, and technologies that promote preservice, in-service, informal educators, and higher education faculty use of NASA-related content in their instructional environments.
- Provide resources and expertise to support and strengthen NASA’s collaborations and partnerships with higher education institutions through sustained investments in research and technology development critical to NASA’s future and America’s technological and economic competitiveness.
- Provide resources and expertise for creating, designing, developing, and publishing STEM content and products aligned with NASA’s missions, national learning standards, research-based pedagogy, instructional design and learning theory.
- Provide award and grant management, support and coordination for project managers and technical officers in accordance with NASA Shared Services (NSSC) requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies to inform, engage, promote, and recruit a diverse pool of applicants, with a focus on underrepresented and underserved, for NASA OSTEM activities.
- Execute data collections, performance monitoring and evaluation services for the OSTEM enterprise utilizing government systems.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor project timelines and task allocations - updating management tools with status for assigned activities in real time
- Complete all task requirements within established milestones
- Maintain consistent communication with key stakeholders to assure timeliness and quality of deliverables
- Support STEM Engagement and program operations
- Manage schedules, coordinate transportation and other required logistics to facilitate visitors and certification programs
- Notetaking
- Assist in data collection and evaluation efforts
- Promote and support community engagement initiatives
- Provide technical support for delivery of interactive virtual engagements and presentations
- Coordinate and collaborate across team to assure that all work products content and functionality are of highest quality and informed with up-to-date information
- Attend weekly contract management and daily stand-up meetings as needed to support contract execution
- Develop SOPs and QC procedures; and update to reflect efficiencies, best practices, and lessons learned
- Contributes to client progress and status reports (i.e., monthly reports, weekly registration metrics, etc.)
- Documents all expenses in ODC tracker
- Assist with market research / literature reviews and present findings
- Prepare and maintain project file folders with all completed work products, artifacts, and deliverables
- Contribute to quality control process - to include peer review of work products and coordinating QC of deliverables
- Document quality control of work products and deliverables prior to delivery to client and/or management
- Stay up to date on necessary technology and processes and show initiative in capturing, documenting, and implementing best practices and lessons learned to improve quality and efficiency of services and solutions

- Must be proficient in in Smartsheet, MS SharePoint, MS Office Suite, Adobe PDF, and a variety of virtual meeting platforms (i.e., Zoom, Teams, Connect, etc.)
- 508 compliance experience a plus
- NASA STEM Gateway Management System (Salesforce) experience a plus

Work Environment: The work environment is a typical office setting or virtual/remote setting. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday locally at Chabot Science Center or remote. On Wednesdays, the contractor needs to report to NASA Ames Research center. The specific work schedule will be determined in collaboration with the Task Monitor and may incorporate in person experience, or other flexible work schedule options, as approved.
Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing.
Position type and expected hours of work: This is a part-time nonexempt position. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday, 20-30 hours per week. Some job activities may be required outside of typical workdays/hours. Overtime is expected during peak periods.
Travel: 10% local and regional travel, with overnight stays necessary
Required education and experience: Bachelor’s Degree Required.
Additional eligibility qualifications: A minimum of 2 years of industry-specific experience required
