Massabesic Adult and Community Education has the following vacancy for your consideration:
POSITION: Education Coordinator and HiSET Tutorat York County Jail
REPORTS TO: MACE Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree Required.
2. Prior teaching experience preferred.
3. Comfortable teaching a range of core subjects (Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Writing).
4. Strong organizational skills required.
5. Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
6. Exceptional ethics and adherence to confidentiality.
7. Comfortable in a correctional setting.
WORKING HOURS: Approximately 35 hours per week.
START DATE: When a suitable candidate is found.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets with prospective students, completes program intake procedure.
2. Uses information from intake, assessments, and inventories to place students in the appropriate academic setting. 3. Tutors academic students in preparation for their high school equivalency exams.
4. Accurately maintains data and student records.
5. Coordinates the scheduling of academic and enrichment activities for eligible YCJ residents.
6. Communicates regularly with the Director of Adult Education and the jail education liason to ensure jail needs are being met. 7. Attends team/staff meetings for program planning and seeks out professional development opportunities as needed. 8. Adheres to jail and school district policies, procedures, and expectations.
9. Maintains professional certifications as necessary.
10. Maintains student confidentiality.
11. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
12. Other duties as assigned.
