We are currently hiring for an Education Coach for our Early Childhood at our Wabash Headquarters located at 218 S. Wabash Ave.


The Early Childhood Education Coach will provide coaching, mentoring and other support for classroom staff based on an evidence-based coaching framework for the purpose of ensuring high quality teaching and strong child outcomes. The Early Childhood Education Coach will develop relationships with teachers and will develop coaching plans to drive effective teaching practices for center-based and partner programs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• In collaboration with Education/Inclusion Manager and Child Care Director, consistently measure classroom quality and staff’s utilization of best practice strategies, through ongoing classroom observations, analysis of data related to teaching practices, and examination of children’s progress in school readiness skills

• Work jointly with Education/Inclusion Manager to compile and interpret program data (ex. child assessment, curriculum, etc.) for the purpose of determining focus areas for coaching and professional development for the program.

• Partner with education and management staff to communicate relevant information to fully support coaching efforts.

• Partner with Child Care Direct and Education/ Inclusion Coach to assess all education staff to identify strengths, areas of needed support, which staff would benefit from intensive coaching.

• Create and implement coaching plans for identified teachers, to include focused goals and measures of success, to drive learning cycles. Establish collaborative relationships with classroom staff and support their achievement of coaching plan goals by using face-to-face and remote (e.g. via video or other technologies) coaching strategies such as, but not limited to, observing, modeling, co-teaching, side-by-side coaching, and co-planning.

• Provide clear, direct constructive feedback and timely follow up in a manner that supports classroom staff’s improvement of effective teaching practices.

• Support teachers’ abilities to set goals, and then reflect on and analyze their progress in achieving them.

• Measure effectiveness of coaching efforts by gathering and analyzing relevant data such as classroom quality, classroom staff progress and children’s progress in school readiness skills.

• Support the delivery of in-service and other training consistent with the Head Start Performance Standards, CYC mandates, and established training needs.

• Coordinate with Administration to ensure staff receives support and feedback for continuous improvement with program performance goals.

• Coordinate with Administration to develop plans to identify and support teachers who may need on-going support with curriculum implementation and other teacher practices.

• Participate on various agency committees that are formed to address initiatives, tasks and issues as requested and/or approved by supervisor.

• Provide support for continuity of services system.

• On an ongoing basis and as requested provide data and reports on teacher’s implementation of practices described in goals/action plans.

• At the end of each coaching session, provide a Coaching Report to the appropriate supervisor.

• Provide data and reports as requested on progress towards relevant CYC goals and objectives.

• Maintain regular communication with Education/Inclusion Manager.

• Submit a weekly/ monthly calendar, time sheet, expense reports, weekly reports, training and technical assistance reports within established timelines to Education/ Inclusion Manager.

• Provide other reports and documentation as required by supervisors

• Maintain regular communication with staff and Administration through site reports, phone calls, and e-mail.

• Other duties as assigned to fulfill the mission of the program and agency needs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree required in Early Childhood Education or related field with 30 hours of child development courses.

• Illinois Gateways (Level 5) Early Childhood Credential or ability to obtain.

• 3-4 years of experience as an early childhood teacher, trainer, or coach.

• Ability to communicate, receive, and transfer written, oral, and electronic information effectively.

• Effective coaching and mentoring skills to support adult learning and professional development.

• Knowledge and experience supporting the implementation of high-quality teaching and instructional practices.

• Ability to guide and motivate staff in their professional growth.

• Ability to design and deliver training and technical assistance.

• Ability to collect and analyze data and make recommendations accordingly.

• Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with staff; Ability to solve problems independently; Computer skills including the following Microsoft applications: Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Ability to work with diverse populations. Head Start experience and Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred.

• CLASS Reliable (preferred)

• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, Illinois Early Learning Standards, and developmentally appropriate practices for infants.

• Knowledge of adult learning principles and leadership competencies.

• This position requires travel to various sites. Must have reliable transportation
