To help bring our vision to life, we seek a passionate and highly motivated Editorial Assistant to work closely with the Editorial Director to scour True Crime stories across the country on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of synthesizing information and a deep understanding of the True Crime genre. They will also be knowledgeable about law enforcement, the legal system, and the breaking news cycles. We are seeking a fast-moving and responsible individual who has a sharp eye for detail and is excited to be a part of a growing group.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Review, collate, and distribute daily crime recaps culled from station newsletters each day in advance of morning editorial meeting.
- Gather and share all available assets for selected stories with production teams and ensure the stories can be properly supported through news station footage.
- Continually track story developments and providing necessary updates to the ED and team.
- Provides a variety of production related support to the digital team.
- Works with digital team on meeting established productivity goals and deadlines.
- May assist with projects as directed by the other members of the digital team.
- Communicates proactively and escalates properly with colleagues and managers on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least three years of experience working in journalism.
- Strong news judgment and a knack for understanding the True Crime genre and its fans.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to write cleanly, clearly and concisely.
- Some knowledge of social platforms.
- Clear and collegial communicator who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Consistent and responsible work ethic; a self-starter who takes the initiative to overcome obstacles and solve problems.
- Must be highly motivated, extremely organized, and come to the position with a digital-first mindset.
- Must be comfortable with ambiguity and change that may come about as our team evolves over time.
- Late-night, early-morning, weekend, and holiday work may occur depending on the news cycle.
