- Job Summary
Provides continual observation to one patient and assist the nursing staff in providing a safe environment for the patient. Report any changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate staff member. Works under the supervision of a RN. Must be compassionate, empathetic, and enjoy helping others and have excellent interpersonal skills. Performs any other job related duties as requested by the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Department Manager.

- Minimum Education Requirement
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum Experience Requirement
- Prior sitter experience preferred. Completion of safe sitter class within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum License Requirement
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification required. BLS required.
- Physical Requirement/Working Conditions
- Should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and will seek assistance when heavier objects need to be lifted. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a hospital environment. May be exposed to infectious specimens, diseases, soiled laundry, lifting and handling of heavy patients, but potential for personal harm or injury to self or others is limited when proper safety and health precautions are followed. Able to maintain emotional stability; must be able to tolerate extensive walking, moderate sitting, standing and lifting; physically able to perform CPR. External applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.
