The Software Automation Engineer will create the automation framework and process around Harbor Freight's Ecommerce automation infrastructure. The individual will be responsible for not only creating the process but will look to establish automation test case writing best practices, test robustness, and versatility as the foundation of the Ecommerce engineering team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop automation framework to best suit application technologies
- Implement code leveraging industry best practices
- Write robust, repeatable automation tests
- Mentor the team on automation best practices
- Help ensure code coverage via automated tests
- Contribute to the development of a plan to integrate automated testing within the overall testing process and enable the transition of testing from a manual to an automated approach.
- Evaluate tools and technology for Test Automation that are a best fit for the ecommerce team
- Create an approach and methodology for building a Test Automation architecture (TAA).
- Design and develop (new or modified) Test Automation solutions that meet the business needs.
- Create automated test reporting and metrics collection.
- Manage and optimize testing assets to facilitate maintainability and address evolving systems and applications.

Requirements
Job Qualifications - Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of software development experience
Job Qualifications - Skills
- Conversant in both front and back-end ecommerce related technologies
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Able to independently solve problems and suggest efficient and value-adding solutions
- Keep up to speed on emerging technologies and suggest inclusion within the product where applicable
- Automation Framework experience (Cypress, Selenium etc.)
- Typescript / JavaScript
- Modern JS frameworks (React.JS / Angular / etc.)
- Source Control Usage (git preferred)
- Familiarity with application build and deployment tools (Jenkins)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey ideas to both technical and non-technical staff
- Related industry certifications (ISTQB) are a plus
General office environment requiring ability to:
- stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time
- speak and listen to others in person, via digital meeting (such as Zoom) and over the phone

The anticipated salary range for this position is $86,800 - $130,200 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 236 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
