Job Description:
Under general supervision, Echo Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation in accordance with established practices and procedures.
1. Produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analysis of heart and related structures, using ultrasound equipment, for use by physician in diagnosis of heart disease and study of heart.
2. Calculates, measures, and documents appropriate values on the tests performed for review and interpretation by physicians.
3. Performs diagnostic carotid arterials and venous studies of upper and lower extremities and venous studies of patients with suspected peripheral vascular disease by following ICAVL guidelines.
4. Explains procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxieties of patient.
5. Reviews test results with interpreting physician.
6. Communicates with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical conditions while undergoing echocardiogram.
7. Conducts vascular laboratory studies in accordance with the vascular laboratory protocols. 8. Maintains the vascular laboratory quality assurance database.
9. May perform therapeutic procedures such as peripheral compression.
10. Prepares and maintains operational logs.
11. Ensures that all vascular laboratory studies are scheduled in an appropriate manner to satisfy the clinical situation.
12. Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed.
13. Promotes mission, vision, and values and abides by service behavior standards.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Passed the Echocardiography Registry Exam is required. Preferred: Associate's degree in related field is preferred Required: One (1) current/valid certifications from the following list required: 1. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer 2. Registered Vascular Technologist 3. Registered Vascular Sonographer Preferred: N/A

Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required 2. Must possess an excellent working knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary anatomy/pathology, the cardiac patient, and treatment of cardiac diseases. 3. Working knowledge of vascular arterial and venous anatomy for carotid and peripheral vasculature. 4. Excellent communication skills. 5. Good computer skills. 6. Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism. Required: One (1) year related experience in an Echo/Vascular Laboratory is required.
