MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*Possess a valid Colorado Teacher License with Early Childhood Special Education (ESCE) endorsement
*Candidates with endorsements in CLDE, Bilingual Ed, Foreign Language, and/or sheltered content or other English Language instructional training desired
*Strong desire working with preschool-age children
*Up to date on current child development, learning theory and pedagogy in teaching of Early Childhood Special Education students
*Excellent interpersonal skills and rapport with students, staff, and families
*Skilled in recognizing and addressing developmental needs of preschool students
*Work effectively as a team member with staff and parents
*Bilingual skills desirable (Spanish/English)
*Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
*To plan and create developmentally appropriate activities and lessons that align with students' IEPs and building-block standards for preschool-age students
*To foster a learning environment conducive to developing strong skills in language, cognition, affective and motoric.
*To conduct, write, and maintain accurate developmental assessments and IEP records of assigned students
*To monitor all environments used by preschool children (e.g., classroom, hallway, playground, before and after school, etc.)
*To ensure on-going and effective communication with parents regarding classroom and building activities
*To monitor student progress and to communicate that progress with parents regularly
*To support the Results Matter Initiative via developmental data input using the Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment program
*To respond to the questions and/or concerns of parents, staff and community in a timely manner
*To encourage participation of parents in their child's education through participation in the IEP process and volunteerism
*To understand and follow building and District safety procedures (e.g., tornado, fire, etc.)
*To participate in required professional development and training
*To complete assigned building wide responsibilities as necessary
*To complete duties as assigned by the building administrator and/or Special Education leadership
