EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $60,118 - $80,441 per year
POSITION SALARY RANGE: $60,118 - $138,628 per year
SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for multidisciplinary Special Education, including assessment of children, reporting and paperworkAdapts instruction to meet the learning needs of all students increasing the probability of advancing their learning and meeting their established goals. Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, staff and community members. Assures all procedures and policies are clearly communicated and followed, including but not limited to: ECSD Policies, Federal and State IDEA laws, Colorado Health and Human Services Licensing Requirements, Colorado Department of Education Rules and Head Start Performance Standards.

ASSSIST IN SUPERVISION OF:
Special Education Teacher Assistants
ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:
1. Effectively leads preschool Special Education Team to evaluate, helps determine eligibility and provides appropriate services for students with disabilities.
2. Maintains required and needed student Special Education records in an accurate, thorough, confidential, and timely manner.
3. Apply skills in observation, diagnosis, and data collection.
4. Analyzes behaviors and applies a variety of interventions that facilitate positive behavior changes.
5. Identifies physical and emotional factors in the environment that impact student learning.
6. Actively participates in staffings, helps develop and implement student IEPs.
7. Provides parents with written information regarding their child's progress toward meeting IEP goals on the same schedule as all children in the ECSD Preschool Program and attend Parent-Teacher Conferences for those children on IEPs.
8. Collaborates with building/district staff members to develop a Special Education program that provides the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities through a full
Spectrum of educational services and that enables students to obtain reasonable educational benefit.
9. Effectively communicate the needs of students with disabilities and collaboratively problem-solves with parents, teachers, specialists, and administrators.
10. Develops accommodations and modifications of curriculum, instruction, and adjustments in environment increasing the probability of improvement in student performance.
11. Ensures the accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, and security of all student information. Complete all paperwork in a timely fashion.
12. Collaborates and coordinates with team of related service providers, as well as necessary administrators and attends ECE Department Trainings and required meetings.
13. Coordinates transitions from Part C (infant/toddler early intervention programs) to Part B (three to five year old intervention programs) and transitions from district
preschool to kindergarten.
Administrative
1. Share duties with the Preschool Director in recruitment, scheduling, supervising and evaluating preschool teacher assistants.
2.Co-Lead weekly cluster and staff meetings.
3. Plan and deliver staff training for preschool staff at each site.
4. Provide instructional leadership to all staff. Conduct regular observations of
staff to assess performance and to gather information that will lead to instructional
improvement through regular feedback.
5. Responsible for implementing the laws, regulations, and standards of Special Education,
at that preschool site.
6. Maintains an ongoing program of professional growth that meets District expectations
and personal professional goals.
7. Complies with District and School policies and procedures.
8. Participates actively in the adopted District evaluation process.
903. Coordinates the planning meetings and facilitated development of student IEPs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Masters in Early Childhood Special Education required.
2. Active teacher certification or license issued by the State of Colorado required.
3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Effective time management and organizational skills.
