Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (with endorsement in Early Childhood approval)
- Previous experience in the last 4 years and/or coursework in the area of assignment within the last 3 years
- Comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and skill in content area/assignment
- Knowledge and experience with Google suite
- Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with parents, school staff, and others to develop educational plans that are compliant with Federal guidelines.
- Work cooperatively with district personnel to meet the individual needs of the students.
- Meets with the multi-disciplinary team to interpret assessment results, develop recommendations and plans educational strategies, and placement options.
- Act as the designee of the Local Education Agency (LEA) in student service meetings.
- Facilitate annual review and evaluation meetings as well as student support meetings for Early Childhood students and complete relevant documentation.
- Participate in joint planning with all other ECE service providers.
- Consults with parents, school staff, and others to facilitate the growth and development of all students.
- Consults with appropriate individuals in designing and implementing behavioral change programs for individual students.
- Assists in the screening of students who may need more comprehensive assessments.
- Assists with the selection and/or administration of screening instruments and procedures.
- Conducts informal and formal behavioral observations of students in a variety of school settings.
- Guide classroom staff regarding data collection for individual students.
- Supports teachers and service providers to monitor intervention outcomes by maintaining contact with persons involved and modifying strategies as needed.
- Formulates psychological and psychoeducational conclusions and recommendations in a written report.
- Coordinate and attend all transition paperwork and meetings for early intervention students and those students moving into kindergarten and complete required documentation (i.e., OSEP child outcome data and EI tracking forms).
- Guide on procedural issues and district & building policies to staff when warranted
- Coordinate preschool screenings
- Review all referral packets received
- Communicate verbally and in written form the student's present level of functioning and education needs in an understandable manner.
- Meets with teachers, administrators, parents, and students to interpret assessment results and recommendations.
- Work collaboratively regarding placement options
- Records and reports services delivered and related times for Medicaid reimbursement purposes.
- Attends staff meetings and contributes to the ongoing development of District programs through involvement with building and District committees.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence; demonstrates awareness of limitations and strengths, acknowledges recommendations, and sets goals for growth.
- Possesses and maintains current information concerning assessment procedures and instruments; demonstrates observable knowledge of theory and content in general education appropriate to Early Childhood education levels and all categories of Special Education.
- Treats personal information about students, parents, or staff members confidentially and ethically by discussing such personal information only with individuals having a demonstrable educational interest in the student.
- Maintains communication and positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and community.
- Uses appropriate channels of communication.
- Schedules multidisciplinary conferences in cooperation with other staff members.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Building Administrator and Assistant Superintendent for Special Education Services
