The Buckeye Ranch is seeking an Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist to join our education department. The Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist partners with pre-school centers, parents, and child welfare to provide education, consultation and support early identification for Mental Health services. Our school-based program provides evidence-based services to emotionally impaired students in our partnering school districts along with training and education to strengthen social and emotional learning skills for students. The Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist provides consultation and education services in school and preschool settings. The position will also provide parenting coaching in schools and homes.
Schedule: Full-time, Exempt (Monday – Friday, Normal Business Hours)
Location: Columbus, OH: West Broad Street (Hybrid Work Model – In office work required)
What you’ll do:
- Identify indicators of age-appropriate development in all domains for children of varying ages.
- Communicate and coach interventions to caregivers and care centers.
- Advocate for children, youth and families based on their developmental needs.
- Assess clients for appropriate level of care, including behavioral examples, including frequency, duration, severity, and environmental impacts.
- Identify history of trauma, adversity and/or toxic stress that influence presenting problem(s), functioning, and family interaction styles. Determines the level of immediate and future risk of abuse or neglect to children.
- Identify cultural factors that influence strengths, functioning, and family interaction styles. Identifies strengths and functioning of both client and family for utilization in treatment.
- Collaborate with School Based and internal providers to complete comprehensive diagnostic assessments that support Early Childhood development as needed.
- Develop training plans and facilitate coaching, ensuring that services are family focused.
- Manage behavioral health crises through appropriate interventions.
Who you are:
- You have a bachelor’s degree in social work, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- You have two years of pediatric Mental Health working experience; preferably as a Social Worker, Counselor, Therapist, or Mental Health Specialist/Professional.
- You are preferably Ohio licensed, or license eligible (LSW, LPC, MFT).
- You have an active driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. .
