This summary provides a listing of the knowledge, skills and abilities that are critical components of the position Director of Materials & Purchasing Services.
General
This is a full time, FLSA exempt position, not eligible for overtime, and responsible for overseeing all activities within the Material Services organization which include the monitoring and development of contracts, Aircraft on Ground (A.O.G.), Warranty & Repair, inventory planning and management, and all invoice payment for Eastern Airlines fleet operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Materials & Purchasing Services reports to the Vice President of Technical Operations with the following duties and responsibilities:Partners with Finance, Supply Chain, Maintenance Planning and Maintenance Control to ensure proper inventory is available to support EAS’s operational needs.
- Works closely with the Finance department to ensure material investments are appropriate and optimized.
- Resolves problem invoices that have pricing, PO and/or invoice discrepancies.
- Collaborates with all departments on problem solving and assuring that aircraft are released on time.
- Creates contracts to reduce overall costs and meet budgetary goals.
- Oversees sales to and from other clients of the Material/Purchasing Department.
- Responsible for the development and oversite of all materials contracts with approved Eastern Airline vendors.
- Oversees Material Services departmental budget and planning models.
- Serves as a member of the Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS).
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Technical Operations.
Education, Qualification and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Accounting or equivalent required.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred.
- Airframe and Powerplant license preferred but not required.
- Five (5) years of Procurement/Procurement Planning/Material Control experience within the aviation industry required.
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience in progressive Procurement environment.
- Must have at least five (5) years supervisory or leadership experience managing a team.
- Demonstrates excellent management, communication skills, professionalism, and positive customer service attitude without compromising quality.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite and the Internet.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in both oral and written communication.
- Some travel may be required.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets the Company’s insurance standards.
- Pass a two (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC).
- Eligible to work in the United States.
