Outside working hours if other than M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: This position may require some nights and weekends.
Job Summary and Description
Processes the intake of deceased human remains at the mortuary following best practices and procedures in compliance with state regulations. Prepares deceased human remains for burial or cremation in a respectful and professional manner. consulate forms for international shipping. Assists families with funeral services and may coordinate activities of staff to support funeral functions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Mortuary Science or related field.
- 3 years of experience in mortuary operations including embalming, funeral directing and funeral arranging.
- Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to mortuary and human remains activities.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 5 years of experience preparing human remains for funeral services.
- Experience training students, apprentices or interns on mortuary processes, procedures, and safety protocols.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must have a valid driver license and be insurable through the organization’s insurers.
- Must carry a Funeral Director and Embalmer License from the State of Texas or have the ability to reciprocate within 30 days of hiring.
Motor Vehicle Report is required in addition to background check and drug screen
