As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including those with autism, dementia, and individuals requiring hospice care. Your primary responsibility will be to assist individuals in their daily activities and ensure their well-being.
Duties:
- Provide Direct Support and assistance to individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and ensure the safety of individuals.
- Assist individuals with mobility, transfers, and ambulation as needed.
- Monitor and record vital signs of individuals under your care.
- Create a supportive and nurturing environment for individuals with diverse needs.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Document observations, progress, and any incidents or changes in behavior.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in Direct Support or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of CPR and First Aid procedures and ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to provide compassionate care while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Experience working with individuals with Disabilities like but not limited to autism, dementia, assisted living or hospice care etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional certifications in healthcare or related fields are beneficial.
