invites applications for the position of:
*Drug Treatment Coordinator*

SALARY:

DESCRIPTION:

The Rockingham County Judicial System has an opening for a Drug Treatment Coordinator. Under the general supervision of the Judge, District Attorney, and Daymark, the Drug Treatment Coordinator meets regularly with Drug Treatment Court clients and supports ongoing recovery from substance use by monitoring treatment, compliance and performing case management and court coordination responsibilities. This position works in close collaboration with other treatment court stakeholders and the County Government.   Does related work as required. * This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required.  Background Check required.

Screens and assesses individuals referred to

 

 

Screens and assesses individuals referred to the Adult Drug Treatment Court (Recovery Court) or Family Treatment Court (FTC) for eligibility;
Facilitates staffing and attends Recovery Court and FTC court sessions, as well as other criminal and DSS court sessions where referrals may be made; prepares dockets, materials and reports for court and for the teams; remains updated on best practices for drug treatment courts and seeks new innovations for greater participation; provides information and educational opportunities in the area of substance use treatment for the team;
 
Supervises and supports the part-time Case Manager position by ensuring the position is meeting the case management needs of the participants;
 
Reports noncompliance issues to the teams and recommendations for appropriate sanctions, if needed;
 Plans for graduation ceremonies and other events for the participants of the courts;
 
Prepares annual operations grant and final report; presents to the ABC Board;
 
Establishes standards and protocol for drug testing and performs client drug testing in Hillsborough and Chapel Hill;
 
Establishes relationships with clients to assess treatment and support services that are needed; creates case plans and makes appropriate referrals to treatment and other support services;
 
Establishes criteria, develops projects and assesses program effectiveness.
 
Communicates with treatment providers and the teams on a regular basis to share client information and progress; maintains computer records, data and reports for individual clients,and overall program information, ensuring that confidentiality requirements are met and maintained;
 Advocates and supports client recovery and rehabilitation needs, including coordinating other necessary community-based services such as housing, entitlements, education, transportation and job training;
 Maintains financial records and data for County and grant funding;
 
Maintains the departmental website and answers incoming calls; performs office administrative work, as needed;
 
Adheres to the department's safety rules and regulations;
 
Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments; 
 
May perform other incidental tasks, as needed.

 

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Experience with and knowledge of substance use and mental health assessment and service provision, including interview techniques, current screening tools, diagnostic methodology, record collection and treatment referrals;
 
Knowledge of the principles and practices of case management and maintaining computerized files and reports;
 
Interest in and commitment to substance use treatment and recovery;
 
Experience with grant writing and fundraising is helpful; 
 
Understanding the criminal justice system, court procedure and sentencing guidelines is preferred;
 
Ability to identify which guideline(s) to use, and interpret how to apply the guideline(s);
 
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with court system stakeholders, clients, treatment providers and the team;
 
Ability to solve problems, work independently and operate under difficult and stressful circumstances;
 
Ability to recruit, support and encourage client participation and success in Recovery Court and FTC;
 
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing;
 
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with co-workers, criminal justice stakeholders, community members and individuals with criminal records and/or pending criminal cases and the general public;
 
Ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in order to maintain and track data, generate reports and prepare presentations;
 
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, resourcefulness, accuracy, thoroughness and the physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
 
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in a human services field and a minimum of two years of case management experience working with a criminal justice population or a substance use/mental health population; or
 
Equivalent combination of experience and education; and
 
Substance Use Training and Specialization, preferred; and
 
Familiarity with substance use screening tools and toxicology, preferred; and
 
Prior experience with treatment and diversionary programs or courts in the criminal justice system, preferred; and
 
Valid North Carolina Driver License.

 

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND POSSIBLE HAZARDS
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of standing, walking, fingering/typing, talking, sitting, grasping, hearing, reaching and repetitive motions of the hands/wrist/feet;
 Ability to perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects;
 Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting and extensive reading and operate a computer terminal; 
 Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
