FPS of NC has collaborated with Pathways and is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team [KA1] as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS), under the supervision of the Regional WIC Coordinator or Adult Basic Services Coordinator, will work with and support clients in Adult Drug Treatment Court, Veterans Treatment Court and DWI/Sobriety Treatment Court in an effort to increase community-based support and positive outcomes for Treatment Court participants.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a self-identified current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services who can relate to others who are now using those services.
- If applicable, be currently engaged in a recovery program to include at a minimum participation in at least two 12-Step Meetings per week, active engagement with a 12-Step Sponsor, continuous sobriety/abstinence from alcohol and/or drug use for a minimum of 12 months to the present time.
- Have personal experience and knowledge of recovery.
- Have demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing.
- Be able to establish trusting relationships with peers.
- Be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Certified NC Peer Support Specialist
- Within the last three years, had at least 12 months of part or full time paid or volunteer work experience; or
- One-year post-secondary education experience totaling 24 credit hours
