Driver/Packer
Full Time
Schedule: 5 days a week. Tuesday through Saturday, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm.
Location: Kalihi area
Pay: $17.60/hr.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The packer position is responsible for performing the day-to-day operations of the Home Delivery program including managing inventory, preparing and packing meals, transporting meals, onboarding new customers, and provide supervision, training, and support to Home Delivery Volunteers. This includes maintaining service standards, supporting a safe work environment including protecting program data, and managing the available resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Specific Duties
- Responsible for the Home Delivery program’s daily packing and delivery operations. Ensure the program is successful in completing each day’s packing and deliveries and is prepared to operate smoothly the next shift(s).
- Prepares and checks all information needed including packing lists/labels, routes, meal adjustment forms, and volunteer roster.
- Checks required supplies daily. Submit timely supply requests to supervisor to ensure there are sufficient supplies in stock for operations.
- Set-up and break-down work areas including tables, racks, carts, delivery bags, supplies, etc.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Preps and packs meals and other items for delivery to program customers. Check bags and verify route information to ensure accuracy, correct discrepancies immediately.
- Loads and unloads vehicles. Safely drive shuttle, delivery, and pick-up routes. Ensure items arrive to each destination timely and in very good condition.
- Conducts food temperature checks and quality checks at each stage of outgoing and returning meals; record information; discard meals that are not held at a safe temperature or are damaged.
- Unpacks and inventories returned items from unsuccessful deliveries.
- Conducts daily and month-end inventory, including reporting discarded inventory, returned inventory, discrepancies in the counts to supervisor.
- Smiles and greets all volunteers, customers, and caregivers encountered. Maintain a friendly and approachable demeaner when interacting with others.
- Ensures volunteers have proper items and supplies to successful complete their duties.
- Provide coverage for packing and deliveries in the absence of volunteers.
- Supports volunteer appreciation and recognition.
- Provides timely and appropriate aide to any customer or volunteer who needs medical assistance or is otherwise in distress.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Indoors, office setting, production areas including inside walk-in reefer/freezer. Outdoors in various residential, in home, and community settings, travel to provide services, to see employees, distribute meals, outreach, etc., as required.
