The Night ShiftDriver Manager at Craig Transportation plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and smooth operations of our trucking fleet during nighttime hours. This multifaceted position encompasses responsibilities related to safety, dispatch, and maintenance, requiring a keen understanding of transportation regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage a team of drivers.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management:
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation laws.
- Investigate and report accidents or incidents promptly, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Monitor driver behavior through telematics systems and provide coaching and feedback to improve performance.
- Collaborate with the safety department to develop and implement safety initiatives and training programs.
Dispatch Operations:
- Coordinate and prioritize the dispatch of drivers to ensure on-time deliveries and pickups.
- Communicate with drivers to provide instructions, updates, and support throughout their shifts.
- Monitor route efficiency and make adjustments as needed to optimize productivity and minimize delays.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests, striving to provide excellent service and maintain positive relationships.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to track shipments, update statuses, and generate reports.
Maintenance Oversight:
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for the trucking fleet to minimize downtime and ensure roadworthiness.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff and external service providers to schedule repairs and inspections.
- Document maintenance records and ensure accurate record-keeping for regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in transportation management, preferably in the trucking industry.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work Night Shifts and weekends as required.
