Expectations: The role of Driver has many duties. To service the customer by delivering orders as received and to attempt to exceed the expectations of the customers through good service. The following is a list of procedures set by the company.
Qualifications:
- Must have Class B License
- Must have clean driving record.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
Major Responsibilities: These include, but are not limited to the following:
A. Deliver procedures
B. Safety Procedures
C. Vehicle Maintenance
D. Inventory Management
E. Reports and Records
F. General
Associated Duties: These include, but are not limited to the following:
A. Delivery Procedures: The Driver has total responsibility for the completion of and performance of the delivery as required. This includes but is not limited to.
1. Review the product as it is loaded on the vehicle.
2. Secure the materials that are on the delivery vehicle to ensure its security.
3. Take loads as directed to by dispatch or Yard Manager.
4. Keep dispatch and or yard manager aware of any delays or delivery problems.
5. Maintain all pick slip paperwork with required signatures and return to proper area.
6. If COD or customer coordination is required before delivery be sure to contact the appropriate person(s) concerned before loading the material on the truck.
7. Be sure to unload product in the proper place on the jobsite. If in doubt, be sure to call in to dispatch, yard manager to avoid a possible trip back to move improperly placed materials.
B. Safety Procedures: The Drivers shall always act in a safe matter and exercise good judgment when safety issues arise.
1. Drivers as well as any staff operating equipment shall at the will of the safety director submit to any drug testing as policy allows.
2. If involved in any type of accident or property destruction the driver shall notify the yard manager, dispatcher, operations manager or fleet manager as soon as possible.
3. Report any accident to the above listed management no matter the severity. It will be the responsibility of management to a make any decision as to the course of action.
C. Vehicle Maintenance:
1. Perform daily inspection reports on equipment and forward to the fleet manager.
2. Be sure to complete any fuel usage records, as necessary.
3. Keep the truck or equipment clean and presentable to the public.
D. Inventory Management:
1. Inspect inventory as it loaded on the delivery vehicle to ensure the quality of the product.
2. When picking up return goods be sure to verify the quality of the returned product. IF in doubt as what to do regarding the return please call in and review the situation with the dispatcher or yard manager.
E. Reports and Records
1. Record mileage as required on daily work schedule.
2. Prepare any logbooks etc. as needed when traveling.
3. Prepare any other reports required by management.
4. Always keep all driving licenses up to date.
F. General
A. Keep the Branch Manager and or dispatcher informed on a timely basis of anything that could affect the company’s operations and profitability.
B. Attend all meetings scheduled or requested by the Branch Manager or Safety Director.
C. Perform any other duties not specifically stated herein and which the Branch Manager may assign. Report to the branch manager when deliveries are complete for work assignment.
D. Customer satisfaction is the primary objective. A driver as well as any employee who has contact with our customer represents our company so be sure to act in a courteous and professional manner. There are other suppliers who can furnish like products so where we can exceed above our competition is in giving great personalized customer service.
