We are looking for a highly motivated and responsible mechanical Senior Drafter to join our
Engineering staff at the Christiansburg, VA location.
Here is what you can expect from the role:
- Usage of Siemens NX CAD software to create 3D solid models, assemblies and associated drawings for production use
- Design and layout basic mechanical assemblies using CAD software
- Create detailed component drawings from engineering data
- Prepare outline sketches for quotes
- Check straight-forward designs and ECO incorporations
- Assist in the assigning of inventory control numbers (ICNs)
- Determine the component, sub-assemblies and assembly drawings required in accordance with applicable standards
- Review and interpret customer specifications or requirements and any applicable military or industry specification or standards
- Learn how to use various software (CAD related, Workflows, etc.) as needed
- Work with various engineers and team members to create detailed drawings with minimum supervision
- Be willing to help develop best drafting practices for the site, to train or be involved in cross-training others as necessary, and be willing to learn new tasks on a continual basis.
- Write and incorporate Engineering Change Orders as necessary
What you'll need to join the team:
- An Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or equivalent
- A minimum of two years of experience in a drafting related electro-mechanical components or related experience using NX modeling software or equivalent
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance standard to insure best manufacturability
- Knowledge of how to design and layout printed circuit board and flex tape artwork and related drawings using Electronic Packaging Designer (EPD) software (or equivalent) is a plus
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance standards
This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
