What You'll Do
As a Domestic Violence Clinician with HELP R.O.A.D.S., you'll be a critical member of a comprehensive, non-residential individual and family safety program providing a variety of services designed to assist in empowering survivors of Domestic Violence, other crime victims, and their families. With the goal of helping children of Domestic Violence survivors and their families achieve safety and long-term stability and addressing the effects of abuse, neglect, and trauma, you'll work with our team located at the Brooklyn Family Justice Center and report to the Clinical Director.
You'll provide mental health services, long and short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and therapeutic case management services to children and their families. As you develop effective relationships with both children and parents, you'll facilitate clinical, art therapy, and psycho-educational individual and group sessions, including parenting skills support groups. And you'll liaise with other professionals in and out of the Family Justice Center and District Attorney's office as well as advocate for children and parents and assist with negotiation of services through ACS, school staff, legal guardians, and others.
You're a great fit for this role if you have:
- Bachelor's Degree in social work.
- Experience facilitating support groups and workshops.
- Knowledge in the modalities of play and art therapy.
It would be helpful (but not required) if you have:
- Experience providing counseling and supportive services to Domestic Violence survivors and their families.
- Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish), as many of our clients are native Spanish speakers.
