DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATE
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field or equivalent work/volunteer experience preferred. Must work well with persons of varied sexual orientation and gender identities, racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and with individuals who are disabled. Knowledge of counseling and advocacy techniques including crisis intervention and case management skills preferred. Previous employment or volunteer work with victims of Domestic Violence or sexual assault a must. Strong oral and written communication and computer skills are required. Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaker a plus. Must provide proof of 40-60 hours of Domestic Violence or sexual assault training. Demonstrated the ability to multitask. This is a full-time 40 hour position.
Job Description: Provide advocacy services and support to survivors of intimate par
tner violence including sexual assault and stalking. Provide phone coverage during daytime shift including survivor intakes. Assess immediate crisis needs of victims during intake calls and perform appropriate actions. Manage incoming calls, walk-ins and complete necessary documentation. Support the daily operations of office, as assigned. Educate survivors about dynamics of Domestic Violence and sexual assault and options/resources available. Complete and maintain records and document services provided to survivors.
- Conduct survivor assessments and intakes; Work with survivors to develop and maintain relevant and meaningful case plans.
- Provide concrete case management and access to agency and external resources.
- Meet regularly with survivors to support case plan accomplishment.
- Refer survivors to other agencies and resources and advocate directly with other agencies as needed to help client access necessary services.
- Maintain service partnerships with referral agencies.
- Assist survivors in identifying and fulfilling needs.
- Conduct support group as needed.
- Participate in outreach events on some evenings and weekends.
- Participate in staff meetings, case conferences and statewide meetings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Training Requirements: Forty/sixty hours of Domestic Violence and/or sexual assault training. Five hours paid training related to LGBTQI+ community provided by the agency.
Salary: Depends on experience. Base wage starts at $21 per hour.
