North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance/military munitions response (MMRP), regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of the Document Quality Control Specialist is to assess client collections and maintain Document Quality Control to develop the client's digital library. This role will assist with directing a team of Records Management Technicians to ensure proper Quality Control processes are being followed and will also serve as the point of contact when conducting operations at the client site archives in the absence of the Project Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain Quality Control processes when assessing and categorizing client historic collections to develop the client's digital library.
  • Responsible for maintaining respective established Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards at the client's archive; this may also include preservation of historic documents to be sent to the Federal Records Center or the National Archives and Records Administration.
  • Record appropriate and relevant data quality information for client meetings and document processing standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and client to evaluate QA/QC processes and make recommendations.
  • Assist with directing a team of Records Management Technicians.
  • Serve as the point of contact when conducting operations at the client site archives in the absence of the Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with project managers, subject matter experts, and other client personnel about QA/QC processes during on-site operations and meetings.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of document processing workflow procedures, QA/QC checklists, metadata accuracy, and standard operating procedures for client.
  • Assist Project Manager in organizing and streamlining operation workflows and conducting document retrieval, scanning, QC, QA, and filing operations.
  • Assist the Project Manager with arrangement of travel to client sites and similarly related logistic matters.
  • Utilize standard software applications including Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Library Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the QA/QC of digital documentation.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiar with both high end and large format scanner peripherals and software.
  • Ability to conduct and quality assure optical character recognition (OCR).
  • Demonstrated ability to direct team members and perform assignments at own workplace and at client sites.
  • Ability to follow set processes and procedures as well as able to adapt to evolving processes.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, very high attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines and handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent proof-reading and writing skills.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background screen.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Government employment background check and acquire U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential card.
  • Able and willing to travel approximately 25%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree in Library Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in digital document QA/QC areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be sitting for long periods of time in an office environment, but will also be required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is often required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The majority of work is conducted indoors. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
