Job Summary
The Tuxedo Club is searching for an experienced dockhand to join our Team for the season! As the first point of contact for our members and guests, the Dockhand role requires extensive knowledge of the Club's various lake and boating activities. The ideal candidate is friendly, motivated, and devoted to becoming an integral member of a team that values hard work and attention to detail. During the season (May - Labor Day), this role is tasked with managing reservations for boat rentals, coordinating fishing, kayaking, and summer camps as well as providing exceptional customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome members and guests as they arrive at the boathouse.
- Keep boathouse and dock areas clean and organized.
- Assist during boathouse events.
- Manage reservations for boat rentals and other equipment and assist members depart and return from dock.
- Maintain excellent condition of rental boats and member boats (if requested).
- Follow all boathouse safety protocols and ensure members and guests follow as well.
- Coordinate fishing, kayaking and summer camps.
- Always communicate with Boatmaster and escalate any member issues or concerns.
- Perform all other related duties assigned by Boatmaster or senior management.
- Always maintain proper Club boathouse etiquette.
Qualifications
- Prior boating knowledge, sailing experience and basic fishing skills.
- Knowledgeable and able to use basic power and construction hand tools.
- An open and approachable personality with great verbal & written communication skills.
- Positive attitude with strong attention to detail and customer service.
- Energetic & professional team player.
- Ability to work closely and effectively with club management.
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, Jonas, POS)
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive Hourly Rate
- Eligible for Employee Holiday Fund (bonus)
- NY Sick Pay (accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, capped at 56 hours)
Working Conditions
General working hours will be scheduled for approximately 20-25 hours. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be outdoors, near water and motorized equipment. Employee will need to stand, walk, talk and lift.

- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, use hands & fingers, reach with hands & arms, talk and/or hear
- Employees must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Must practice proper body mechanics & use appropriate personal protective equipment to avoid injury when necessary.
