Job description

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We need someone that can work weekday and/or weekend shifts from 8am-6pm,

Fuel rental boats every morning, maintain boats and give guidance to guests on boater safety and routes to take. Must be able to operate a boat. Must also have a boaters safety card if born after 1988.

Also gives basic paddle board and kayak lessons, best routes to take based on wind and weather. Monitors reservations and equipment to ensure guests have the equipment needed.

Experience with basic tools is required, in the downtime, you will be repairing docks, equipment, and boats.

Will also assist in the tackle shop: getting live shrimp for guests, cleaning, sweeping mopping.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understanding of Florida weather, and how it affects water sports and beach actives.
  • Customer service mentality. Our guest experience is extremely important.
  • *Experience paddle boarding and kayaking. Can teach this, but need to have at least done them before.
  • Local fishing knowledge is a bonus, but not required
  • Experience operating a boat on the Indian River Lagoon
  • Ability to lift heavy objects. Setting up beach chairs and cabanas is a good workout. Must also be able to lift a paddle boards overhead.
  • Ability to handle Florida heat. It’s hot being outside all day, not everyone can handle it.
  • Ability to understand booking software and schedule reservations.
  • Communicate well with others. Will need to interact with guests and other team members. How you interact with guests can make all the difference in their experience.
  • Ability to use tools: wrenches, ratchets, drill and saws

Paddle Board & Kayak Rentals

  • Arriving at 8AM to prepare the dock for the day's guests.
  • Cleaning the dock of any dirt, debris, and barnacle/algae build up.
  • Setting up necessary paddle boards and all kayaks.
  • Keeping paddle boards, kayaks, paddles, and life vests clean, and organized.
  • Reporting damaged equipment.
  • Keeping dock stocked with sunscreen, waterproof phone cases, and trash/recycling bags.
  • Monitoring reservations and equipment to ensure guests have what they need set up for them before they arrive.
  • Giving a basic lesson to guests on how to paddle board or kayak.
  • Recommending the best routes to take based on wind and weather.
  • Helping guests get on/off of paddle boards, and in/out of kayaks.
  • Returning equipment to its stored position and locking up at 5PM.
  • Assisting the Concierge when all other responsibilities have been taken care of and no guests are currently out on the water.

Boat Rentals

  • Cleaning the dock and boats of any debris, dirt, and trash before guests arrive.
  • Ensuring boats are running properly, fueled, and prepared for guests.
  • Giving guests a basic lesson on boater safety and the rules of the Indian River Lagoon.
  • Helping guests launch from and return back to the dock.
  • Cleaning and checking boats for any damage after guests return.
  • Assisting in general boat maintenance.
  • Monitoring reservations.
