About LEGOLAND Florida Resort:

Immerse yourself in a world of creativity and excitement at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, a sprawling 150-acre theme park designed for families with children aged 2 to 12. With over 50 rides, shows, and attractions, including the LEGOLAND Water Park, Peppa the Pig Theme Park, and uniquely themed accommodations like the LEGOLAND Hotel and Pirate Island Hotel, every visit promises endless joy and discovery.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Deliver budgeted financial targets and EBITDA for the Resort, ensuring proper cost and revenue control is exhibited throughout the financial year
  • Initiate corrective actions if agreed targets are not deemed achievable
  • Create and deliver strategies that grow revenue in line with the short and long-term strategic business plan
  • Continually manage the cost base of the Resort, ensuring that adequate flexibility is displayed and that costs do not undermine successful revenue growth
  • Manage Park yield and volume and hotel room rate and rooms sold so that all primary revenue targets are achieved
  • Increase RPC through effective management of Retail and all commercial partners
  • Set annual capex budgets in line with the strategic plan and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to desired specification
  • Deliver agreed ROIC as directed by the Managing Director
  • Responsible for all annual capital expenditure budgets
  • Autonomy to direct necessary expenditure to either increase visitor volume, enhance the guest experience or to address health and safety issues within given budgeted authority limits
  • Closely monitor visitor KPI’s/feedback to ensure identified quality targets are met and ultimately exceeded and apply feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Participate in cross-group working parties/ teams as directed by the Managing Director or by members of the Executive Committee.
  • Regularly benchmark own performance against others within the wider Merlin Entertainments Group and competitors to establish best practice
  • Develop compelling consumer marketing propositions for the Resort in conjunction with Marketing and Creative Directors
  • Ensure the safety of guests and employees through detailed and documented operational SOPs; routinely audit against Merlin and regulatory requirements to confirm compliance and to protect the company’s reputation
  • Support the delivery of the brand plan via annual brand and site marketing activities
  • Ensure compliance in all communications with chosen brand identities and propositions
  • Work with NA Divisional Directors and Marketing to maximize geographical, cross promotional opportunities between operating divisions
  • Partner with the MMM Creative Director and Marketing Director to generate innovation within the Resort to maintain guest satisfaction and competitive advantage
  • Partner with MMM in the development, launch and opening of new “large capital projects / or new opportunities
  • Define and implement a strategy to improve profitability and brand consistency within all areas of the Resort
  • Generate new revenue earning opportunities to facilitate additional brand experiences and profit streams for the Resort
  • Lead specific project work associated with the Resort, as directed by Managing Director / CEO.
  • Encourage the development of direct reports by creating flexible decision-making boundaries, avoiding top-down management wherever possible
  • Provide platform for direct reports to contribute to longer term business planning and provide the Managing Director with identified strategies for growth
  • Review Resort performance and delegate actions where appropriate through 1-2-1 reviews
  • Manage direct reports to consistently deliver against their respective priorities and areas of focus and develop to a higher level of strategic, financial, and operational awareness
  • Communicate a clear vision to the Resort employees and model the Merlin values through transparency and visibility
  • Lead the business from the front, inspiring teams to live the values and to deliver excellent guest experiences
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders such as local communities, county and State representatives, emergency services and external consultants
  • Work with Managing Director, site HR Director and Group HR department to ensure an effective succession plan is in place, which will underpin future company growth.
Qualifications & Experience:

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, management, or related field; Master’s Degree in business is a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience and a strong ability to lead a senior team
  • Compelling leadership presence that exudes trust, authenticity and support of our diverse makeup
  • Experience with 24/7 operation with history in the direct leisure, hospitality and or retail industries.
  • Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relationships, presentations, negotiations, and verbal/ written communications
  • Must have extensive and complete P&L and capex responsibility of a revenue generating area
  • Must possess a track record of success in developing and implementing strategic business plans
  • Must have the ability to build strategic partnerships and linkages with industry, community and business groups and sectors to position and promote LEGOLAND Florida effectively
  • Ability to balance long term growth strategy and day-to-day execution
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required to support park operations
  • Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and internationally to conduct business on a frequent basis.
