Come join our sales team in our District Manager opening! In this role you will manage a team of 5 - 8 sales representatives and floating merchandisers across 150-300 accounts, which account for approximately $15-$30 million in revenue. Responsible for sales volume and revenue in their district. Responsible for the training, development, performance assessment, and motivation of team members to meet or exceed sales plans and ensure proper representation of our brands in on-premise accounts. 

 

What You Will Do: 

  • Directly supervises 5-8 sales representatives, and directs floating merchandiser work.
  • Trains, evaluates, and develops new and experienced sales representatives through the use of tools such as sales training, training modules, and field ride withs, etc.
  • Supports sales reps with advice or direction on customer orders, identifying and ensuring resolution.
  • Assesses performance of sales representatives by providing timely performance assessments.
  • Leads weekly team sales meetings to review territory performance and overall sales results.
  • Accountable for the execution of the sales team’s monthly plans to include accounts purchasing, points of distribution, shelf, cold box, display, and case and revenue objectives.
  • Responsible for goal setting at the territory and account level to meet case and revenue objectives.
  • Presents monthly programs and provides brand direction via General Sales Meetings.
  • Develops and manages incentive program execution at the district levels.
  • Trains, educates, and manages the execution of the distributor suggested pricing plan for Gallo distributor brands.
  • Regularly conducts product education and training with employees and retailors.
  • Uses extensive industry and market knowledge to develop strong customer relationships with key independent business owners.
  • Responsible for key account management to include conducting customer calls.
  • Monitors and assesses performance of sales representatives and merchandisers.
  • Onboards new sales reps as well as covers their open sales rep’s territory when we have open positions or need coverage for PTO/Leaves, etc.
  • Directs, assigns, and approves decisions on tastings and programs in market. Approves signage, display, and merchandizing in their district.
  • Establishes account programs for sales representatives.
  • Establishes Major Account management program.
  • Detects and develops management candidates.
  • Provides upward flow of relevant market information to upper management.
  • Participates in the recruiting of candidates.
  • Practices safe work and driving habits and, if accountable for others, ensures their understanding and compliance of such habits.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Develops, coaches and mentors peers, indirect and subordinate staff.
  • If accountable for the work of others, conducts performance evaluations; reviews and communicates salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.

 

What You Will Need: 

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 5 years of professional sales experience to include at least one year of Gallo wholesaler or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor experience that includes a holiday season reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 18 months of professional sales experience with a Gallo wholesaler or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor that includes a holiday season reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to lift or move 45 – 57 pound cases of product.
  • Required to work weekends for special functions/events when needed.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

  

What Will Set You Apart: 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of wine sales experience to include at least one year of affiliated distributor experience that includes a holiday season; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of retail and on-premise district manager experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Knowledgeable in Gallo sales/merchandising standards, policies, and selling skills.
  • Demonstrated Leadership aptitude and skill.
  • Completion of Fine Wine Training I certification
  • CSS and/or CSW certifications
  • Good communication skills; sticks to point.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork experience.

Compensation:

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $73,700.00-$110,500.00.
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
