Distribution Team Lead

As a Distribution Team Lead! This position is responsible for working within the team as well as supervising the teams of distribution employees in all areas throughout the Warehouse area to ensure they are performing their duties in accordance with management’s direction and business goals while adhering to all company standards and policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide limited supervision leading and motivating the Distribution Team while working towards meeting group goals and project completion.
• Works within the team, as a member, carrying out the same roles but with the additional 'leader' responsibilities.
• Occasionally operate forklift and perform other tasks throughout the warehouse.
• Oversee the truck loading and receiving responsibilities.
• Covers when Distribution Manager is out of office.
• Understands logistics requirements.
• Train distribution employees on processes and specific duties and serve as the first point of contact for questions and concerns.
• Monitor processes while performing related warehouse duties and report any concerns or suggestions to the Distribution Manager for improvements.
• Will promote and maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment through 5s activities and be responsible for proper material storage and waste disposal.
• This position will be predominantly assigned to the indicated shift but must be able to work any shift for Distribution coverage.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures; participates with the team to achieve safety goals.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Experience in leading a team in a warehousing and logistics environment.
• Good communication skills.
• A team player with a positive attitude towards work and staff engagement.
• Knowledge and experience of health and safety, preferably with forklift experience.
• Proactive with an eye for problem solving and continuous improvement.
• PC skills, particularly Microsoft office.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school education or the equivalent.
• Some college education preferred.
• Career Readiness Certification (CRC)
• 1+ year recent forklift experience
• Knowledge and experience with industrial warehousing and product distribution functions such as shipping, receiving, inventory control, work scheduling and customer service.
• Presentation skills and the ability influence or persuade others in a positive manner.
• Able to relate to routine operations in a manner that is consistent with existing solutions to problems; to conform to established policies and procedures; log work activities.

Physical requirements of this job:

Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others and distinguish colors.

Typical shipping & receiving office environment.

Pushing/pulling with mechanical moving assistance, bending and squatting is required regularly. Shipper/Receivers are standing and walking most of the workday with occasional sitting on a forklift.
