In the sales department, no two days are alike. Your primary mission will be to maintain our existing customer relationships while ambitiously scouting for new ones. If you love people, love science, like to travel, and want to be a part of a very dynamic team this is the job for you.
We follow 11 simple rules in our department:
- If you’re not selling something, you’re not selling anything
- If someone wants to buy something, sell it to them (if it’s not something that would make mom mad)
- Be nice
- If you can’t make a sale, make a friend
- If you focus on the customer, the money will follow, if you focus on the money the customer will leave
- You have 2 ears and one mouth for a reason
- Be smart enough to know when you’re not smart enough
- Don’t throw away marketing material/catalogs. At least get them into the hands of your customer
- You can only get 2 out of 3, fast, good or cheap, choose wisely each time
- The customer isn’t always right, but don’t ever tell them that
- Work hard, always (hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard)

Primary Responsibilities:
- Serves customers by selling products and meeting customer needs.
- Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential customers
- Meets monthly individual sales goals and contributes to the overall team sales goals
- Communicates with customers through phone calls, emails and in person visits (at customer and at trade shows)
- Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying needs of customers and potential customers
- Works with marketing to build promotions around key product lines
- Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
- Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques
- Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
- Provides historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Education/Experience/Skills
- Degree in business or science, science experience is a huge, huge plus
- Experience in customer service or sales needed
- Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM
- Excel hero is another plus
- Must be comfortable talking with people on customer visits and trade shows
Must have reliable transportation

Typically works in an office with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on a routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 25 lbs.
Working hours Monday – Friday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. May require extended hours based on the needs of the business
