Job description

The Dispensary General Manager will be responsible for the highest-level execution and oversight of day-to-day dispensary business operations at Native Sun including store experience, marketing, sales, shipping/receiving, maintenance, environmental health and safety, procurement, staffing, external partnerships, and quality assurance. This is a highly cross-functional role and will require collaboration with leaders across all company departments.

Primary responsibilities

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, tracking, and reporting for the dispensary, including monitoring, and controlling costs.
  • Ensure the implementation of and adherence to company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal regulations, and Cannabis Control Commission regulations.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with cannabis and non-cannabis vendors.
  • Support, and guide the work of procurement staff and ensuring Native Sun’s menus and product selections are of the highest quality.
  • Guide, direct, and evaluate the work of dispensary management and their respective staff members, including developing and tracking Key Performance Indicators.
  • Recruit, hire, train, manage, and develop staff to achieve company revenue and budgetary targets.Approaches difficult conversations with employees and uses diplomacy in human resources issues; requests guidance from Senior Management when handling delicate employee relations situation
  • Demonstrate proactivity, flexibility, adaptability, and multi‐tasking.
  • Build and administer all dispensary staffing plans to support business objectives.
  • Clearly communicate any changes in policy to staff and conduct training when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment inside and outside the facility.
  • Oversee physical dispensary maintenance including but not limited to; HVAC, plumbing, repairs, snow, and technology.
  • Contribute to the development of and ensure adherence to quality assurance and performance management programs in the dispensary.
  • Oversee and ensure complete accuracy of all opening and closing procedures for the dispensary.
  • Contribute to the development of and ensure adherence to all retail presentation, sales, experience, and location company standards.
  • Ensure the use of data collection and analysis systems, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Assume responsibility for the identification of problems affecting people, processes or products within supervised activities and recommend solutions.
  • Report all incidents and complaints to the executive team.
  • Represent the company for external and internal events.
  • Oversee the administration of Point of Sale, Inventory Tracking, and other retail software systems.
  • Maintain and ensure adherence to all sales, transaction, receiving, fulfillment, store operations, inventory, and all other SOPs, training manuals and methodology.
  • Oversee the career development plans for all dispensary staff including ensuring the administration of training and other development activities.
  • Implement and ensure the use of internal communication tools to promote transparent and sufficient intercompany communication.
  • Computer & equipment operations necessary for running an office/retail center (POS systems, Word, Cannabis ERP, Tableau, Excel/Google Sheets, and office equipment such as copiers/telephone systems).

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of ethical conduct; absolute reliability and integrity.

  • Prepare and deliver to leadership accurate reports on sales, safety, hiring, payroll and other company data.
  • Responsible for working in admissions, fulfillment and inventory when assigned.
  • Cross training is a requirement.
  • Responsible for all presentability guidelines for the store including organization and execution of cleaning, merchandising, Native Sun signature scent and visual marketing objectives.
  • Store opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Monitoring overall store cleanliness including restrooms, office, and sales floor.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Preferences

  • Bachelors or higher degree in applicable business, hospitality or operations management field.
  • 2+ years of experience in retail operations leadership position.
  • Experience with cannabis retail management preferred.
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast paced and highly accountable environment.
  • Experience with data analysis, working knowledge of data systems.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of how to achieve positive results in a highly compliant environment.
  • Arithmetic necessary for basic inventory and cash management.
  • Infrequent travel to other Native Sun locations required.
  • Holidays, nights, and weekend availability is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
